Model-Based Design
Paragon’s extensive dynamic modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities have supported numerous autonomous programs, including Ground Based Interceptor (GBI), Payload Launch Vehicle (PLV), Arrow launch vehicles, various tactical systems, and UAVs. Our comprehensive modeling and simulation tool suite encompasses many models, from generic subsystem representations to high-fidelity 6-degree-of-freedom kinematics/dynamics. This robust environment provides detailed component emulations, supporting a broad library of subsystem and component models and engineering tools. This gives users a comprehensive set of high-fidelity simulation components to develop multiple simulations simultaneously. Our models incorporate comprehensive error sources and feature a modular structure, facilitating easy understanding and modification. The framework includes built-in Monte Carlo, sensitivity analysis capabilities, and performance assessment tools. We’ve designed the individual model components and the GUI-based simulation environment to provide an intuitive interface for setting up and executing the simulation framework. This versatile platform supports various analyses, including trajectory evaluation, requirements development and assessment, performance evaluation, and design analysis.
Paragon personnel have extensive experience utilizing these tools to evaluate test scenarios, assess likely outcomes, conduct range safety analysis, and perform baseline system pretest performance evaluations. Our team has also provided rapid pre-mission and post-mission analyses and data reduction products, including in-field quick-look analyses for onsite support. Paragon’s expertise in performing detailed mission test reconstructions to match vehicle behavior has been invaluable in several root-cause failure investigations. Our simulation environment integrates seamlessly with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, enabling real-time simulation capabilities for system testing and validation. We support multi-fidelity modeling, allowing us to scale model fidelity based on specific simulation requirements, from fast, low-fidelity models for rapid prototyping to high-fidelity models for detailed analysis.
Our collaborative simulation environment supports distributed simulations across multiple workstations, with robust version control and configuration management for simulation models. We’ve implemented comprehensive data management and analysis features, including data logging, playback capabilities, and advanced post-processing tools for in-depth analysis of simulation results. These tools integrate with standard data analysis and visualization platforms, enhancing our ability to derive meaningful insights from simulation data. Paragon’s model-based simulation capabilities have found notable applications in autonomous systems development, mission planning and analysis, system design and optimization, test and evaluation support, failure analysis, and risk mitigation. From concept development to operational support, our simulation environment enables clients to make informed decisions, optimize designs, and mitigate risks across the entire system lifecycle in their aerospace and defense programs.
